When a board asks "should we invest more in AI?", the honest answer is almost always: it depends on where you stand today. And most organisations can't answer that question with any precision.
An objective read, not an opinion
An AI Maturity Assessment isn't a generic "technology adoption" questionnaire. It's a structured barometer across several dimensions — strategy, data, talent, governance, use cases, culture — that produces an objective, comparable read of where the organisation stands.
The result isn't a single score. It's a map: which dimensions are further along, which represent the greatest risk, and where the biggest short-term impact potential lies.
Why it changes the conversation in the boardroom
Without this diagnosis, AI discussions tend to get stuck between two extremes: abstract enthusiasm ("we need to do more with AI") or paralysing caution ("we're not ready yet"). Neither position is actionable.
With a maturity map in hand, the conversation changes quality: it stops being "should we" and becomes "where do we invest first" — with priorities ranked by impact and feasibility, not by whoever speaks loudest in the room.
What to expect as a deliverable
A well-run diagnosis delivers three concrete things:
- A clear maturity map, by dimension, benchmarked against market references.
- A results-reading session with the board, to align interpretation and priorities.
- An objective foundation for the next step — whether that's a strategic plan, a use-case roadmap, or an enablement programme.
An entry point, not a full commitment
One reason we always recommend starting with the diagnosis is the low commitment required: starting with the Maturity Barometer doesn't obligate anything further. The decision to move to the next phases (or not) is made afterwards, with data — not assumptions.
